Santa Barbara and Montecito offer some of California’s most beautiful and varied stretches of coastline. Whether you're looking for an active afternoon, a peaceful swim, or the perfect sunset view, there’s a beach for every type of day.

1. Butterfly Beach (Montecito) A local favorite, Butterfly Beach is known for its stunning sunsets, calm waters, and elegant yet relaxed atmosphere. It's perfect for a leisurely stroll or a peaceful afternoon on the sand. With the historic Four Seasons Biltmore just across the street, it’s a prime spot for people-watching — but never feels overcrowded.Butterfly Beach is walkable from all Palm Tree Properties’ locations.

2. East Beach (Santa Barbara) Wide, sandy, and active, East Beach is a go-to for families looking to play volleyball, climb the beachfront jungle gym, or rent bikes and cruise the coastline. While it’s not the best beach for swimming or lounging quietly, its lively energy and beachfront restaurant make it a great choice for a fun, casual day.

3. Miramar Beach (Montecito) Tucked below the Rosewood Miramar resort, Miramar Beach offers a more peaceful stretch of shoreline perfect for long walks, swimming, and exploring tide pools at low tide. Its gentle surf and relaxed feel make it ideal for families with young children or anyone wanting a quieter, more traditional beach day.

4. Hendry’s Beach (Arroyo Burro, Santa Barbara) Also known as Arroyo Burro Beach, Hendry’s is a laid-back, dog-friendly spot popular with locals. While it's not ideal for swimming or sunbathing, it’s perfect if you want to let your dog run, stroll along the water, and grab a casual bite at The Boathouse, the beloved beachside restaurant right on the sand.

5. Leadbetter Beach (Santa Barbara) Popular with surfers, college students, and local families, Leadbetter Beach has a lively, social atmosphere. With grassy picnic areas, barbecue pits, and plenty of room for beach games, it’s a great choice for group outings or active beach days. Surfing is often mellow here, making it beginner-friendly.
